As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, I hosted an evening for complementary therapists - shiatsu and reiki practitioners, reflexologists, masseurs and other bodyworkers and psychotherapists, coaches and other talk therapists - people who are already working with those facing death, or interested in doing so. This is a second meet-up for you if you would like to come again to meet new faces, and for you if you couldn’t make it the first time.
Let us share our experience of working with those facing death and start a discussion together about ‘a good place to die’, what constitutes a ‘good death’, and other pertinent topics such as:
Where people die and what their different needs are in each place
Who might be involved - the client, family and friends, care workers
Our role - what contact we might offer, what skills we might need
We will start with some simple, preparatory chi gung exercises, and then introduce ourselves. (If we are a very large group we will do this in small groups).
There will be time to share our professional and personal experiences.
